In a world of negative news and doomsday messages, I recently read about a 102-year-old Kentucky woman surviving the coronavirus. Virginia Harris, who lives in Hopkins County, was diagnosed with the virus in March after an aggressive fever and nausea.
The family was troubled by the diagnosis, because of the high probability of death for Virginia. Unfortunately, family members could do very little and did what they could for her, but she was battling this on her own. She did encounter a high fever and low blood pressure but didn’t have respiratory issues.
“I was so sick, I thought I was going to die. But the good Lord took care of me, everybody was praying for me, and it just wasn’t my time,” Harris said. She also commented on how she took care of herself and followed the recommendations by her doctor.
Virginia’s story reminds me of the way we’re to live our lives. We place our life in God’s hands, knowing He’s in full control and also use our God-given intellect, talents, and resources to wisely. When we do, we’ll find peace and security for our lives.
