As we were discussing protocol changes in the office with a colleague, she mentioned how we now had to accommodate to a “new normal.” She went on about the inconvenience of it all. As I listened to her argument, I remembered living a successful life requires anything but “normal.”
I believe what she was inferring to is that life as she knew it has changed, and now she needs to adapt. Not because it was a welcomed change but instead imposed on her. She felt comfortable living the same routine day in and day out.
The reality, however, is that life is dynamic and always changing. Those that adapt and overcome succeed. This truth requires a disciplined approach to life. This approach includes developing disciplines and habits into your daily routine with a goal of growth.
Growth only comes from rebuilding after tearing down. When you take ownership and find a way to improve when you rebuild, you become stronger for the next round. Therefore, there can never be a “new normal” if you ever want to be successful in life.
