- Who's Driving?
About a year ago, I committed to writing this blog. At the beginning, I had a problem with consistency and found myself writing sporadically. I would write when it “fit” into my schedule. As a result, I felt guilty due to my inconsistency.
I couldn’t quite figure out why, but I knew I needed to do something about this because it was necessary. After much contemplation and consideration, I realized I was overwhelming myself. I built up this crazy idea I needed to write a perfect, epic novel every day, and the thought of this became too much for me.
That’s when I readjusted and recommitted. I permitted myself to mess up because I realized it was going to take a lot of writing to get to where I needed to be eventually. I also committed to writing every day, regardless of how I felt.
Looking back, I cringe at my early writing, but I also see the progressive improvement over time. I’ve improved because I’ve been receptive to feedback and intentional about making positive changes. I know my writing skills are still a work in progress, but regardless, I press on confidently, knowing I’m improving every day.
Read and meditate on Hebrews 6:10-12 for yourself. What do these verses say to you? Meditate on it, memorize it, do whatever it takes for it to sink in.
What goal or goals have you set for yourself and are falling short of completing? Journal the journey. Be real. Be honest.
Determine what is stopping you and commit to start doing something about it today. What is your first step? Share this with a fellow brother and have them hold you accountable.
