To spend more “alone time” with my wife, we’ve started to walk the dog together after dinner. During these walks, we discuss our day, plan for tomorrow, or chat about anything that comes to mind.
For a long time, we struggled to find our alone time. Juggling work, kids activities, homework, and other life aspects are challenging. We used to think that alone time had to be more “involved,” like date nights.
The reality, however, was that our alone time did not have to be a big production. Quality alone time is any time we separate to give ourselves undivided attention. It’s also the opportunity to do something we enjoy together.
Amazingly, we’ve found that our daily walks amount to over an hour and a half a week! We’ve seen how small amounts of quality time together have added up to a secure connection over time. However, the opposite is also true. Small quantities of neglect over time, add up to a significant amount of distancing over time.
There is no better day than today to start strengthening that connection with your significant other.
