During a recent conversation with my friend Steve, he mentioned a talk he had with a fellow work colleague. They were discussing their work expectations based on their current role and position.
His colleague mentioned how he did the work expected of him but no more than that. He did this because he was frustrated about being passed up for a managerial position. Steve challenged him to work as if he was already in that role.
His colleague’s reply, “Let them first make me a manager, and then I’ll start working like one.”
This story reminds me that we’re to take the opposite approach. We’re to always work to the best of our ability. The word tells us to do everything as if working for the Lord because He has provided this opportunity for us.
Regardless of our situation, he’s looking to see what we’ll do with what he’s given us.
