When I first started my first rebuild and restoration of my Corvette, I became overwhelmed. It had always been a bucket list item of mine to rebuild a car from the ground up. However, I never imagined it would be bringing a car to life that had sat in a garage for almost 20 years.
I first began with turning the engine over, then replacing some essential parts, afterward draining the fuel tank. I did all of this to see if the car would even run. Eventually, the car did run for a few seconds but died. At that moment, I realized there was still much work to be done.
Two years later, I completed the project. It was better than new. I made upgrades to many engine parts as well as the interior. Looking back, I remember the years and endless hours I invested in the project.
Eventually, I sold the car to start another project, but I never got back what I put into it. In the process, however, I learned much more than I ever imagined. Also, the car went on to a new owner, which is now enjoying the car to it’s fullest.
My story reminds me of what scripture says about investing in others. Sometimes we may never get back all of the time and effort we invest in that person. However, we do it because we must believe they will eventually positively impact other’s lives.
