Recently I was making decisions and changes based on a conversation with a colleague but didn’t feel comfortable. Discouraged by second-guessing myself all week, my mind was exhausted from contemplating my choice. Looking for an answer, I prayed for direction and confirmation.
Not long after, I received a welcome call from my brother-in-law. It had been some time since we last caught up. When we talk we discuss life, business and other topics of great interest to both of us. This day he asked how it was going.
I filled him in on my situation and my frustrations and concerns. I also mentioned how I wasn’t sure but felt I was close to a conclusion on my decision. As he gave his observations and advice, I realized it was an answered prayer.
That conversation gave me confirmation and encouragement with his words. After listening, I told him he was my Jethro. I said this because that day, his sage advice came at just the right time.
My story reminds me we all need a Jethro in our life. A Jethro is a man who can pour words of wisdom and encouragement when we need it most. We’re also to be a Jethro to someone else.
