One of my sons inclines towards doing work with his hands. He enjoys coming up with ideas and then building them from scratch. It was no surprise the other day when he approached me wanted to create a go-kart.
The first thing I asked him to do was draw it out. I’ve come to realize that drawing an idea out is the first step toward making an idea a reality. It also shows me potential pitfalls and issues that may come up. After I explained this to him, he then came back to me with a detailed sketch.
As I looked at the sketch, I noticed there were some issues with his design, but I wanted him to discover these for himself, so I then asked him to build a prototype. He made the prototype from straws, bottle caps, glue, and sticks. When he finished, he realized the issue he needed to address.
After he fixed the problem, we set off to build his design. Scripture teaches us to ask our Father to take our vision and our goals to Him. When we do, he will reward the work of our hands.
